SPLAT!!!

It's funny how a split second can change everything! I was riding my bike on Friday night, minding my own business and almost home. When I decided to check my back tire for a flat. I have had a couple flat tires recently after riding down the bike trail so I thought I'd make a quick check. NOT a good choice to have made while in motion! I have major problems with my neck, I have a herniated disk that messes with a lot of things, balance being one of them. I know better than to turn my head the way I did, especially while riding. As I turned my head back I got dizzy, lost my balance, swerved to miss the pole that totally was NOT even in my way and you guessed it.....I flew off my bike into the street...SPLAT! Everything flew out of my basket into the street along with me. So there I lay, my pretty pink bike on top of me and surrounded by my bike locks, Kleen Kanteen, keys, garage door opener, etc. TOTAL humiliation. Thankfully there were no cars on my side of the street, otherwise I'd have been run over. A lady was coming the other direction and she stopped to make sure I was ok. I mumbled that I was fine, just embarrassed and thankfully she drove on by. I think I would have cried if she stopped to help me. I gathered my stuff and limped my way home. I walked for about almost a block before I got back on my bike. I felt bad for laying her out in the street! Well, the truth is....I was way more worried about my bike than I was about myself! Thankfully there is not a single scratch on my pretty pink bike! Now ME on the other hand....I am still finding bruises. I landed pretty hard on my left hip and elbow. I scraped up my left ankle and bruised it pretty good, my left hand and elbow have scrapes, and of course the culprit of my mishap, my neck....it is none too happy with me right now! The feeling is mutual! SO the moral of this story and my lesson learned IS.... never ever check for a flat tire while still in motion, get off the bike!

PS I did order a new helmet after this incident!

Working my a$$ off...

Or at least trying to! This last pregnancy I gained the least amount of weight, and I am thankful for that. I think a lot of the reason is because I became a vegetarian and also cut dairy out of my diet. I ate very healthy, for the most part. But despite my best efforts, I still had about 35 pounds to drop after coming home from the hospital. Fast forward a year, and I have 5 of those pounds left. I still want to lose more though, I would like to get down to the weight I was before I had ANY of my kids. My goal is to get back to 113lbs. So I thought by posting that for EVERYONE to read it would motivate me to make it happen. I have been riding my bike every night at least 8 miles (more when I can) and 20 miles on the weekends. Also I started my regular work out of aerobics and yoga again...I sorta got off track and hadn't done it for almost 2 months, shame on me. Let's see if I can stick to it and make it happen !

Ahhh Preschool Graduation

On June 3rd Liam graduated preschool. I can't say it enough just how proud of him I am. With his SPD and all his challenges he has come remarkably far. He will still be in the special day class next year for kindergarten, BUT he won't be in special ed for long. He has done so well in preschool and progressed beyond my expectations, he's going to do great in kindergarten. Hopefully when Liam is in the 1st grade I will be able to home school him along side his big brother Ethan.

An Overdue Thank You

Thank you Lue-Anne for making this super cute ironing board cover for me out of my scraps!
She also made a matching wristlet tote, but of course I didn't take a photo of it. I stuffed it full the day I got it and carry it everywhere!

Pixie Power Photo of the Month

As you have seen, I like to randomly post cute photos of my little pixie chick. Usually the random photo has nothing to do with anything except her being full of super cuteness. So I have decided that I should just have a pixie power photo of the month. So here is my photo for May.

And you are probably wondering why since it is May 31, did I post a photo for May. Well, my answer is BECAUSE! No, just kidding. My answer is because it was my favorite photo taken in May. Now I have a whole month ahead to take an adorable photo for June. Not that it will take that long to get an adorable photo of her, that's a pretty easy task!

Memorial Weekend

I hope everyone had a fantastic and safe Memorial Weekend. We had a very relaxed weekend at home....just the way I like it! We had a camp out in the backyard. The Gurranimals really enjoy doing that. And I love it because there is NO planning and NO packing involved! We set the tent up, drag out the fire pit and there ya go...instant camping trip!
Saturday morning I woke up early and went for a bike ride with Jennifer....Hi Jenn! It was such a great bike ride, we rode 20 miles....woo hoo! I can't wait for next Saturday, we have a standing plan to ride every Saturday morning. I ride my bike just about every night, but I don't have the time during the week to devote to riding like I want to. I only average about 8 miles a night during the week. So weekends are awesome and I hope I can continue to do 20 miles every Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday we had some dear friends spend the afternoon with us. Sadly this will be the last time we get to hang out with them for a long time. They are moving away to Colorado. We haven't had many opportunities to hang out with them, so we made the most of our last chance. They brought Spike with them, I was so happy to see him. Spike was my baby for about 3 years. But when Liam became mobile, he picked on the poor dog. He stole Spikes food for snacks...YUCK....he drug him out of his doggy bed and would lay in it himself, they licked each other...DOUBLE YUCK! They just were not a good match. So to save poor Spike, we sent him to live with our friends....where he is the happiest dog on the planet! So it was really nice to get to visit with Spike before he moved away.

This is handsome Spike.
So we spent our day relaxing out in the backyard, we ordered pizzas and when the sun went down we roasted marshmallows in the fire pit. The kids had a blast. I haven't transferred the photos to the computer yet, but as soon as I do I will post them.
So that just leaves today. Not much went on today....mostly because I am pooped out from sleeping in the backyard for two days! I did get up and ride my bike though. I had to take advantage of Papa Bear being home! So I went out and rode 13 miles. Came home did some chores, made dinner and then went back out and rode some more. I rode 23 miles today! Loved it! But now I am worn out from our "relaxing" weekend and it is time for bed.
Goodnight!

Getting around to it.

Ok so I am finally getting around to posting some more photos of projects I have been working on. I haven't had a lot of time lately to work on my to make list, hopefully I will have some time once summer vacation starts for the kids.
Here are some diaper inserts I made for the Pixie Chicks cloth diapers. I love these because it makes rinsing out solids much easier, I don't have to dunk the whole diaper. And they are so soft on her bum, they are made out of super soft flannel. I made about a dozen of these.
These are part of a gift for a special someone...can't say who in case they read this blog! It is a set of matching burp clothes and bibs. I love the fabric I used, and the shabby edges I left on them. So cute!
This is another gift for the same person who is getting the bibs and burp clothes. I wish you all could see this rag quilt in person, you can't see the adorable bunny toile in the photos. I plan to make a matching tote to go with this.
So that's it for now.
